So as we're watching it and people's throats are getting slit to a catchy, dark, Tim Burton-y song I got all giddy. I was sure that mom and dad would love it and it would be way better than my last suggestion for a movie.
So the movie was over and I look over at my mother who has a very disgusted face as if she just saw a family of bunnies get run over by a lawn mower. She said it was just too dark for her taste.
Then I started to think about it.
Ok, yes Johnny Depp is pretty amazing. And so is Helena Bonham Carter and her crazy hair. I love the songs! Yay!
This movie really is about a murderer who is gaining revenge on a city full of evil people and then they cook the bodies into pies and people eat them! And in the end everyone pretty much dies and turns out to be evil and there is blood everywhere. Chipper movie!
Why do I love this movie so much? Why do I delight in the darkness of this movie? I'm not saying that I don't like it anymore because I still love it but it's peculiar that something about blood, murder, and revenge could be so popular and loved!
Just something to think about. And for your viewing pleasure, some more clips.
YAY FOR MURDEROUS BARBERS!

Oh my gosh, Stephanie, I'm so glad you love this movie, too!!! It is definitely the darkest thing I've EVER seen, but I am drawn to it because of the gorgeous music, heartrending lyrics, the beautiful filming, and of course, Johnny Depp's acting. The first time I watched it made me so ill I thought I'd never watch it again -- the ending is just as abysmal as you can get. But then I started loving it for that reason, because it shows where the path of revenge leads. And yet, it's so poignant, you end up still feeling so sorry for Sweeney, even though he transformed into a monster.
We should watch this together sometime, I own it!! :) Gad, it's amazing. I have the soundtrack memorized!! I listened to it obsessively for about a month.
"There's a whole in the world like a great black pit and it's filled with people who are filled with sh*& and the vermin of the world inhabit it..."
Oh my gosh, when Johnny sings that under his breath walking through the streets like a sexy, half-dead, scary harbinger of doom... gives me chills everytime. We must discuss this film.
I KNOW! It is amazing.
Can I also add how happy I am that you have Muse on your playlist??
