Yesss I love Technology...

Right now I'm communicating with Lisa via texting, e-mail, e-mail chat, facebook chat, and tagging of photos. And I called her earlier and sent her a letter. All that's left is Telegraph I guess. Don't judge me, we're awesome.

Isn't it freakin amazing that we could do that? 100 years ago, they could not even comprehend doing that! I think it's awesome. Yes I love technology.

Fallin

I hate falling. Don't you hate falling?!?!?

I was walking out of my American Heritage class and one of my friends from Mexico, James, said hi to me! I haven't seen this kid in like four years!! So we were walking and talking about all of his exciting life experiences and mine in Michigan...yeah...and then we came up to some stairs.

The stairs at BYU are too short! I step down expecting a bigger stair and it's not. And I've pretty much adjusted! All the other times going down those stupid stairs I've been fine! It had to be the one time I actually saw someone I knew when I fall. My luck.

It was kind of my fault too because I was doing that thing where you skip a stair and walk down two at a time (BECAUSE THEY'RE SO SMALL!) and I lost my footing and completely fell on my face. HOW EMBARASSING. Being the gentlemen, he helped me up and didn't make fun of me...yet haha.

So I'm sitting here writing this post with my leg pulsing with pain. I expect a monstrous bruise.

So what's new with you?

First Day

Today was my first day of college.

Yippidee freakin doo.

I woke up about 7:45 because I wanted to get ready in time to make the bus that comes at 9:11 and I wasn't sure if it was the right bus or if it was going to come early or not, so I wanted to be out there by like 8:50. Yes, I am my grandpa's granddaughter. Today I am anyway.

So I get to the bus stop after going down to the stoplight when I realize that there is a crosswalk right in front of the entrance to my apartments and it is HOT. The sun is blaring and it is soooo hot. I get on the bus, and it is PACKED. PACKED and HOT are not a good combination. I start sweating and feel like I am just a fountain of sweat and it's nasty. I feel like Brenden Fraser in "Bedazzled" when he's the basketball player.

I get off the bus, take out my handy map that I printed out and highlighted so I could see where I was going (freshman, you know) and I find my computer class very successfully. The other class is still going on so I figure ok, it should be out soon, I'll just chill here on the floor. I take out my cell phone, it's 9:27. My class didn't start for another 33 minutes. I WAS SOO FREAKIN EARLY. I HATE BEING EARLY. So i just sat there for the longest time. Still sweating. Kind of embarrassing.

I go to my first three classes and they're good. They don't seem too hard and it's going pretty good. My flexibility teacher said that every class we are going to stretch for 20 minutes and then take a 10 minute power nap. WHAT!!!!!! A class where you take a freakin nap?!?!?!?! AWESOME. Especially since I have American Heritage after that. Yikes.

American Heritage was what I expected. There was a reading I was supposed to do that I didn't do because it was in the packet that I didn't open because the lady told me not to unwrap anything until I go to class because the teacher could change something!! Whatever. And it was filled with a bajillion students and the seats were narrow and my hips are wide and it was in general not very fun.

I come out, and walk to the Wilkinson center, knowing that my parents are there to say goodbye. I didn't want to break down in front of everyone so I hold it in as best as I could. I get to the car, and they have some tacos al pastor for me!! CAN THEY MAKE THIS ANY HARDER?!?! I get in the car, explain about my classes and then we get to my apartment. Here we go.

I pick up my boxed up tacos, open the door and step out.
Mom-"Well, we're going to say goodbye."
Steph-"What?!"-kidding, very well knowing this was THAT time.
I give my dad a hug as he says how sad he is and fakely cries (just to hide his real feelings. like father like daughter). Then I give my mom a hug and let a couple tears fall. I didn't want to explode right there. I wave goodbye, walk up the stairs with my tacos, get into my dorm, set down my purse, and...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I sat there eating my tacos al pastor just sobbing. Very sad. So yeah, I basically cried on and off for the rest of the day, went to Aunt Katie's house, and got a crying hug and walk from Mariana. It helped.

So that was my first day. Right on.

Oh yeah and,

College sucks by the way.

The Trip

So I'm here. I have successfully traveled to Utah. It took about 24 hours to drive in total and let me say, the middle of the United States is not that exciting. Traveling through Iowa was probably the most interesting part. There was lots of corn to look at which I was expecting and cows. Yeah. Sad how that's the most amusing part, huh?

Then came Nebraska. That state is way too long in my opinion. We had to break it up into two days because I'm convinced you would go crazy if you drove through that entire state all at once. Something interesting was that the freeway was pretty much the path that the Mormon pioneers traveled. I am so glad I am not a pioneer. Here I was sitting in my air-conditioned car with my gatorade and pillow and portable DVD player watching Jack Bauer beat the crap out of evil and explaining everything in the car and I was still sickened by how long it took. Boy am I spoiled. I can just imgine these poor pioneers who came from the green, tree-filled states of Ohio and Pennsylvania and then all of the sudden they step foot and Wyoming. I can just imagine them saying:
"WHAT THE CRAP?! HAVEN'T WE BEEN HERE BEFORE!? IF I SEE ONE MORE PIECE OF DRY SHRUB ON THE GROUND I'M SERIOUSLY GOING TO KICK MYSELF IN THE HEAD WITH MY OX!"
Yeah. And it didn't get much better. Once we were driving down the canyon in Utah, it was definitely gorgeous and pleasing to the eye to see mountains and waterfalls but all of that was obscured by the nasty gut feeling of nervous-ness that I had from the thought that I would be living there and going to school and I freaked out a bit. Yeah I know I can always go home, mom, and I don't have to go, but that's just stupid and I need to just suck it up and rip the band-aid off. It'll be awesome and I'm sure I'll love it. It's the right thing to do and I'm excited for school. It's just the nervous feeling that every student goes through when going to college. Yeah. This is what I've been telling myself anyway. :)
So I move in Wednesday and start school next Monday. I'm stoked and nauseated. But it might just be the pizza.
Right on.

Watch TV!!!!

Ok, so on Wednesday, August 26, there is a 20/20 special that I want everyone everywhere (especially Utah) to see. It is about my cousin, Janet Marie. She was murdered four years ago in her home. I could go into detail about this entire event, but my sister is way better at it.

Please see her blog here.

She has a bunch of links to her previous blog postings about it.

Please, please, please, please watch it and warn everyone you know about Raven Abaroa.

Delightfully Dark

Mom and Dad and I just watched Sweeney Todd. I was so excited for them to see because I had already seen and LOVED IT! I LOVED IT!! Here's a clip of one of my most favorite songs.

So as we're watching it and people's throats are getting slit to a catchy, dark, Tim Burton-y song I got all giddy. I was sure that mom and dad would love it and it would be way better than my last suggestion for a movie.

So the movie was over and I look over at my mother who has a very disgusted face as if she just saw a family of bunnies get run over by a lawn mower. She said it was just too dark for her taste.

Then I started to think about it.

Ok, yes Johnny Depp is pretty amazing. And so is Helena Bonham Carter and her crazy hair. I love the songs! Yay!

This movie really is about a murderer who is gaining revenge on a city full of evil people and then they cook the bodies into pies and people eat them! And in the end everyone pretty much dies and turns out to be evil and there is blood everywhere. Chipper movie!

Why do I love this movie so much? Why do I delight in the darkness of this movie? I'm not saying that I don't like it anymore because I still love it but it's peculiar that something about blood, murder, and revenge could be so popular and loved!

Just something to think about. And for your viewing pleasure, some more clips.
YAY FOR MURDEROUS BARBERS!
